AN ADDRESS OF WELCOME PRESENTED BY ELD. AMELOKO P.S. ON THE OCCASION OF THE FOUNDATION LAYING CEREMONY OF THE ASSEMBLY HALL AND SENSITIZATION OF OTHER PROJECTS –A PROGRAMME/PROJECT SPONSORED BY A CLASS OF 1974 OF OCHAJA SECONDARY SCHOOL.

PROTOCOL

I am particularly grateful to God to see this crowd on the soils of Ochaja Secondary School today.

History will be made today as the class of the 1974 students of this famous college, after over thirty years of their exit, returned to take a look at their secondary school, to lay a foundation of an assembly hall for the younger generation.

I am very much impressed of this gathering and to welcome everyone that has sacrificed his/her time to witness this ceremony.

Particular reference is made on the 1974 class that has pulled this large crowd to this arena today. I welcome you with joy. We open our arms to embrace you with genuine smiles on our face and echoes of welcome from proprietors, staff and students of this famous college.

In the history of Ochaja Secondary School, the class of 1974 will ever be remembered. This occasion is the first of its kind initiated by this class since the inception of the college. In October 2005, this class of 1974 donated an eighteen-seater bus to the college. This drew the attention of the state government. His Excellency, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, who in his magnanimity pledged to donate a 500KVA transformer, construct an access road and drill a borehole for the college. One of the three has been redeemed –a 500KVA transformer. We still hope to redeem the remaining items, through the efforts of the same class of 1974.

Few months later, precisely April 2006, another bus –a twelve seater, was equally donated to the Girls’ School by the same class.

Today, we witness another ceremony –a foundation of a befitting assembly hall and sensitization of other projects by the same class of 1974. I will take permission from my elders to call on the class of 1974 to stretch out their hands for the elders to spit into it so that they can rub on their faces. This act symbolizes blessing from God which will be conferred on these children in appreciation of this initiative.

To all our invited guests, your presence here today is to appreciate this class 1974 and take the news of what you see here today to all nooks and crannies of the state, country and diaspora on what Ochaja old student of 1974 set have done. This will sensitize all other sets to think of what they can do for their alma mater.

This address will be incomplete if Elder O.D. Tebu is not mentioned. He came in to Ochaja with his wife as African missionaries and took over from the Europeans. He laboured to bring up this class of 1974. This has yielded fruits and your dream has been fulfilled. We still solicit that God will give you the grace to commission the project after its completion.

To the sponsors of this project, your brains will be filled with silver and gold, your choice to go back to Ochaja Secondary School, God’s own college, to invest your resources, for the glory of God to flourish, will surely increase you from the level in which you are now to the highest.

To all and sundry, the sacrifice of your time to grace this occasion will be rewarded by the Almighty God.

May God grant you safety as you travel back home.

   Thanks and God bless.
